Haute in Holographics- Blumarine, Burberry & Jonathan Saunders

I had been into holographics at an early age (Pokemon cards, anyone? No? Just me?) and that definitely hasn't changed. Ever since I saw a photo of Cara Delevingne strutting her stuff in this holographic, lizard-like ensemble, I was hooked- again! I am transfixed by the glistening iridescent works of holographic art that we call fashion!

Cara is wearing Blumarine in the photos above. With spring break here and Cabo right around the corner (I am going in 2 days!), I can't help but fantasize about myself on the sandy beaches wearing this iridescent high-waisted two-piece suit. Even though this collection was showcased for Fall/Winter 2012, I think that this trend is just taking off (I am currently wearing Chanel nail polish in Peridot, the metallic golden-green shade)! Designer Anna Molinari and her fashion stylist, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, used holographic pieces in an ultra-modern way- like futuristic punk rock.

Even Burberry Prorsum's Spring/Summer 2013 Collection showcased metallics and high-sheen fabrics. I love the holographic bodysuits and the unexpected sheen in the more structured pieces like the collared blouses and trenchcoats. The show was very cinematic- with a classic trench or cape over a glitzy corset.

Jonathan Sauders' Spring/Summer 2013 Collection also showcased my newly favorite trend! He incorporated holographics in a bad-ass bomber jacket and in this horizontally striped crop top and vertically striped pencil skirt. "This was the hardest collection I've ever done," Jonathan Saunders stated after the show. His inspiration was "a Michael Clark disco girl" with glossy lips, tousled hair... a wild child with a bit of art in her.

Naeem Khan Fall 2013 - NYFW

Did you catch your breath yet? This Valentine's Day, I think I've fallen in love- with Naeem Khan! I know I've written posts about this designer over and over, but I can't help myself. He has quickly become one of my favorite designers of all time. Everything he touches turns into a red-carpet worthy option for any A-list starlette. His front row composed of celebs like Shay Mitchell, Vanessa Hudgens and Matt Damon, who was constantly telling his wife how much he loved the looks walking down the runway.

Inspiration: Byzantine Empire and Erté's illustration of the 1920s.

The Look: Regal velvet gowns and evening coats with detailed gold Ottoman embroidery, sensual open back gowns, heavily embellished body hugging gowns in navies, silvers, golds and gunmetals, his  signature beaded and crystal-encrusted dresses.

I would love to see these dresses worn at the Oscars or even at The Great Gatsby movie premiere, as these dresses are certainly reminiscent of that time period!

SWOON.

What Cher Can't Live Without on Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all my taken and  fabulously single girls out there. I woke up to an
e-mail from the ladies at Wildfox and had to share. They compiled a list of things that iconic Cher Horowitz (from Clueless, duh.) would need on our favorite cheesy holiday.

NYFW Fall/Winter 2013: BCBG Max Azria

Every year, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week opens with BCBG Max Azria's new line. This year it's all about patterns, sheer fabrics, leather, winter tones and FUR.

Aimee Song described it as "super street chic with a hint of grunge."

Inspiration: The East, Istanbul architecture and the eclectic style of Europe's southern gypsies.

The Look:  Whimsical and bohemian with an urban edge, carried out by layers of long, tulle skirts, leather leg warmers, oversized coats, gypsy prints and a black and white palette. While many looks were sheer and light, they were balanced with an oversized coat or beanie.

The Beauty: Hair was straight and sleek with nude makeup and smokey eyes.
